Telehealth

What is it?

Telehealth is the delivery of Speech Pathology services through video conferencing. This means the Speech Pathologist and client are in two different locations.  

This form of service allows access to people who might live too far away from a Speech Pathology service and save travel time for people with a busy schedule. Telehealth allows therapy to happen in an environment where the client sees fit. 

How Does it Work?

At Evolve we use the platform 'Zoom' to conduct our telehealth sessions. A few things you may experience in our Zoom telehealth session includes: 

  • Video and audio to model and observe. 
  • Screen share - this lets us share items on our computer with the you, you can also interact as if it were your own computer. 
  • Drawing and typing functions 

Zoom can be can be accessed on your phone, tablet or computer.

Telehealth allows us to provide consistent and on-going therapy for your Speech Pathology needs. 


Please inform us and switch to a telehealth session if you are unwell or physically unable to come to our clinic. 


  • A device: Sessions can be held on a phone, tablet or computer. Many people use desktop computers or laptops as they offer all the functions for an engaging session. 
  • Internet connection: A reliable and secure internet connection is essential for Telehealth.  
  • Secure location:  A place you feel comfortable and are able to communicate freely. This location should be quiet, well-lit and free from distractions.  
  • Support person: This person can typically help with resolving issues, manage materials, help the client interact with technology and simply just be there as comfort for the client during the session. 


We will email you a 'Zoom' link which you click on at your appointment time. Once you allow us to see and hear you we can commence our session. 


No! The link will automatically allow us to connect with live video and audio. 


The dynamic is slightly different due to not being in the same room as one another. Telehealth aims to provide the same service just in a different way. 


There is growing evidence that when good practices are used, Telehealth services can be as effective as in-person services. 


Your Speech Pathologist will determine if this will be an effective option for you. 


Telehealth is suitable for most clients from pre-school age and above. Individuals with vision, hearing, attention, physical difficulties with sitting or understanding remote therapy may need modifications or additional support. 


Speak with your Speech Pathologist if you are unsure if this service is suitable for you. 


Telehealth is suitable for most therapy targeting goals in the following areas: 

  • Speech
  • Language 
  • Stuttering 
  • Literacy 

Telehealth is not suitable for: 

  • Swallowing 
  • Feeding therapy
