Medicare Rebates

Speech Pathologists are recognised by Medicare as health care providers that can form part of a larger multidisciplinary team managing clients with chronic and complex health needs.

Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) / Chronic Condition Management Plan (CCMP)

If you are living with a chronic medical condition, Medicare benefits may be accessible to support speech pathology services aimed at managing your condition. Your general practitioner (GP) can evaluate your eligibility for rebates within this program and provide you with the required documentation to bring to your appointment with us.

Through this program, you can receive a partial Medicare rebate ($61.80 as of 2025) for a maximum of five sessions per calendar year.

Kindly ensure that the referral specifies our clinic or a designated therapist. You can provide your GP with the following details:

  • Full name of your therapist*
  • Phone: 0421 002 844
  • Address: 128 Newrybar Swamp Road, Kinvara NSW 2478

You can find more information on the Medicare website.

New Medicare Eligibility for Speech Services (M10 Item Group)

From 1 March 2026, Medicare expanded the M10 item group to include speech pathology services for individuals with:

  • Stuttering
  • Speech sound disorders (including articulation disorder, phonological disorder, childhood apraxia of speech and dysarthria)
  • Cleft lip and/or palate

This means eligible children and young people may now access Medicare-rebated speech pathology services under this pathway.

To access this rebate, your child must:

  • Be under 25 years of age
  • Be suspected of or diagnosed with stuttering, a speech sound disorder, or cleft lip and/or palate
  • Have a referral from a GP, consultant physician, or paediatrician

If you believe this pathway may apply to your child, please speak with your GP or medical specialist about obtaining a referral under the M10 Medicare item group.
